Wednesday, March 30th, 2016.  Our bluebird family is back.  Jackson spent the week in Blowing Rock with his friends Grey and Harrison.  Ben has enjoyed his week at home, playing soccer with our neighbor Jack, and just relaxing around the house.

. A beautiful evening spent outside.

Monday, March 28th, 2016.  Amy and I enjoyed a wonderful day together in Winston-Salem celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary.  We ate lunch at Finnegan's Wake, shopped and stopped off at Dairi-O on our way home for ice cream.

Saturday, March 26th, 2016. Ben went straight from his indoor soccer game to his soccer practice, where his brother/coach made him run sprints for being late, even though he had just been running for an hour. After practice he stuck around for 30 minutes practicing goal kicks. That was a lot of soccer in a short amount of time. His indoor game was a blast to watch. The teams were really even and the game ended in a 5-5 tie after a furious comeback effort by Ben's team in the last few minutes. Ben and four other players on his team each scored one goal. Players were Ben, Juan, Leo, Brandon, Nick, Dylan and Brian.

After soccer practice, Jackson went to shoot basketball at the gym, then joined Amy, Ben and I at the FPCMA Easter celebration.  Then that night we finished the last of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, which was our latest family "binge".

Friday, March 25th, 2016.  Amy and I joined friends and family in Floyd, VA to celebrate Deana's 50th birthday.

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016. Jackson set a personal record in the 1600.  5:33, 5 seconds better than last year's 5:38.  It was a really fast race, with runners from Bishop-McGuinness, North Stokes and Walkerton.  Jackson also ran a great 3200 too, finishing in 12:20, which was a season best and not far off his PR.  Both the boys and girls Mt Airy teams finished 2nd in the meet.  Amy, Ben and i enjoyed getting to watch him run, the weather was perfect.  We all stopped at Speedy Chef on the way home for a celebratory dinner.

Monday, March 21st, 2016.  It was a big soccer weekend for Ben as he scored a total of 8 goals during his two indoor games.  He scored 6 goals and played some of his best soccer ever on Friday night, then scored 2 more goals in a game Saturday morning.  His also got to have his friend Matthew over on Saturday and went to see Zootopia with the Beacons on Sunday.  It was a pretty good weekend for the boys.  (more soccer photos here)

Not long ago the family binge watched The Fast and Furious series of movies.  We knocked out the last of those this weekend, Tokyo Drift.  We also watched the 3rd installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, which is our latest binge attempt.  After church on Sunday, Amy and I walked River over to his sister Daisy's house for some play time.  They played hard and he napped hard the rest of the day.

Thursday, March 17th, 2016.  Ben's friend Matthew had a sleep-over at our house last weekend.  On Saturday Ben helped Matthew's youth group with a fundraiser in Dobson, then Matthew came back to Mount Airy to play indoor soccer with Ben.

Wednesday, March 16th, 2016. Jackson ran track Thursday night, then did stand-up comedy in drama class the next morning and worked on an awesome physics project that afternoon.  He spent his evening shooting basketball at the gym. I peeked in to watch and he was shooting great, plus making some sweet alley-oops to fellow track athlete Donovan.  He ended the night watching a movie with Amy and I.  He woke early Saturday to participate in a Quiz Bowl competition, then went to Stuart to work for his aunt and uncle.  On Sunday he was with his church youth group.  He stayed late Monday to finish the physics project, then went to the gym to shoot ball since he missed track practice.  On Tuesday he went straight from school to track to the soccer field where he is coaching a U-13 team.  He spent three hours in the draft room, then came home and stayed up late doing homework.   He may be a teenager and thus drive us crazy half the time, but the kid does a lot of stuff right.

Thursday, March 10th, 2016. Beautiful night for a track meet.  Jackson ran great in both the 1600 and the 3200. While Jackson and I were at South Stokes, Ben and Amy were at the soccer field for the U13 Skills and Drills session.

Sunday, March 6th, 2016.  After church and lunch, the family drove to Buffalo Mountain for a hike to the summit.  Jackson drove while Amy and I took turns wrestling River.  We had to make a few stops along the way to let him out of the truck, but he made the trip back home much better.  By pure coincidence, we ran into our nephew Caleb on top of the mountain.  (more photos here)

Saturday, March 5th, 2016. Jackson ran 5 miles at 8am, I ran 2 miles later that morning.  Jackson volunteered for the Track Team for 4 hours during the afternoon.  Amy and I took River for a walk, then for a playdate with his sister Daisy.  Ben played with friends in the neighborhood.  We played lots of basketball in the driveway, Amy let the chickens out in the yard while we watched the boys play.  That evening the family watched the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie.  All in all, it was a pretty great day.

Thursday, March 3rd, 2016.  Ben is back from his big trip to Disney with his Aunt Deana, cousin Seth and his grandmother Mo.  By all accounts it was a wonderful trip.  They hit all four parks and had 80 degree weather.
