Sunday, March 31st, 2013. Amy and I
celebrated our 15th Wedding Anniversary on Thursday with take-out at home and a
night out listening to music with friends. On Friday, we went to Chatteau
Morrissette for lunch, while the boy spent the day with Deana. Saturday
was gorgeous. Jackson and I started the morning with batting practice at
Graham Field. We stopped by his coach Randy's house and shot the breeze a
little, I then took off to play in my kayak at the Boiling Hole while Amy and
the boys went to the church for an Easter party. I got back just in time
to catch the egg hunt. I then mowed the lawn and played basketball with
the boys. Jackson and I wrapped the day up by watching Skyfall again.
I woke Sunday to find that I had a cold, it was rainy and overcast, but the boys
were still able to hunt for eggs in the yard. We went to church, then I
spent most of the day in bed coughing. Festivities with my family were put
off until Monday when the weather will be much nicer.
March 27th, 2013. Another cold day of Spring sports. Jackson placed
2nd in the 600M at yesterday's track meet and Ben's soccer team narrowly lost
their first game of the season 5-6. (more soccer photos
Monday, March 25th, 2013. Amy spent
her weekend sick and on the couch with a bad stomach bug. Jackson played
in a basketball tournament on Saturday with the Prowl, then spent Sunday at the
gym shooting ball. Ben's friend Devyn took him and the rest of his Stars
team to see the Harlem Globetrotters. And we celebrated my sister Deana's
birthday by joining her to see the Croobs at the iMax theater in Winston-Salem.
More basketball photos here.

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013. I
am back from a week in Utah. Most of my time was spent working, but I did
get out and explore a little. It is a gorgeous part of the country.
Track is going well for Jackson, in his 4 meets so far, he has placed 2nd, 3rd,
4th and 3rd in the 600M and his mile time improves each week. On Saturday,
while playing basketball with the boys, I accidentally landed on Jackson while
rebounding. My elbow hit his nose and we fear it is broken. He went
to his pediatrician this morning and gets x-rays tomorrow.
On Monday, Ben and his Bear Den worked with Ben Cooke to build toolboxes.
Sunday, March 10th, 2013. Pretty much everything
is revolving around sports right now.
Jackson had his 1st Middle School Track Meet on Thursday. He placed 2nd in
the 600M (2min11sec) and ran a mile in 6:43, which beat his fastest time by over
30 seconds. I was extremely proud of him. It was also FREEZING that
evening. He had his first outside baseball practice Friday night, played
in a basketball tournament with the Prowl on Saturday at North Stokes, went to
baseball practice with his friend Hunter's travel team in Stuart on Sunday, then
went straight from that practice to Graham Field in Mount Airy for practice with
the Reds. I don't know how he does it. He did most of this on his
own this weekend as Amy and I were with Ben who played with the Surry Stars in
Boone, NC. Jackson stayed with Deana on Friday night and with his friend
Hunter on Saturday night. Ben's team won one game and lost two. Off the court he had
a lot of fun as his friends Dylan and Devyn both stayed at the same hotel.
They spent lots of time at the pool, in the hot tub and in our room sumo
wrestling with pillows stuffed into their shirts. We had breakfast at the
Dan'l Boone Inn on our way out of town, at Ben's request. We also mined
for gems, which was a lot of fun. My highlight of the weekend was sitting
in the sun eating Krispy Kreme donuts at Old Cave Cove Elementary School
Tuesday, March 5th, 2013. Our cub scout pack performed a Harlem Shake video last night. We have some crazy, fun creative scouts, so the video is awesome. Click here to watch it. Ben's AAU team placed 2nd in a tournament on Saturday at the Gateway YWCA in Winston-Salem. More photos here. The boys are currently playing 4 different sports and are on 5 different teams. Jackson is running track at the middle school, playing AAU basketball with the Prowl and rec baseball with the Reds. Ben is playing AAU basketball with the Stars and rec soccer at RCC. It should be a busy spring.
