Friday, June 29th, 2012. So
much going on. The boys wrapped up a great week at the Foothills
Basketball Camp this week at the high school, both won the tournament
championship on their respective teams. They are in two different age
divisions this year. Jackson and Caleb were in the same age group though
and got to play on the same team. Last weekend we attended the 4th annual
SRVCC Weekend Of Rivers at Deep Creek Campground. It was another fantastic
weekend of tubing, kayaking, s'mores, baby goats, good food cooked on the grill,
wiffle ball, ice cold beers, great friends and more. More photos
On Saturday, I was lucky enough to make a trip to the Tellico, it was a nice day at a low level. And, as usual, I loved Baby Falls.
Tonight we celebrates my grandmother Hava Heath's 93rd birthday. Happy Birthday Hama!
June 18th, 2012. Father's Day started with a breakfast cooked by Amy
(sausage and apples), Jackson (pancakes) and Ben (jelly toast). We then
spent the afternoon playing at Foster Falls. I got to do a little
play-boating before joining the family in some time floating around the river
and exploring on the far side of the island. We stopped at Macado's in
Galax on our way home, then capped the night off by watching the Heat play the
Thunder in the NBA finals. Just a great day.
We spent the day before that hitting golf balls, at first at our house, then at Hardy's Custom Golf that evening. Both boys really had a lot of fun on the course. Last week had a couple of quiet days and pool days and even video game days. Jackson pulled out his old PS2 and Ben has loved getting to revisit some of our old favorites. I put more of our beach photos in this gallery.
Wednesday, June 6th, 2012. We arrived at Deana and Marin's rented beach house at Emerald Isle in time to enjoy a beautiful evening on the sand.
Tuesday, June 5th, 2012. On Saturday, we had a great hike at Stone Mountain State Park (many more photos here). That evening we had a sleep-over at Hama's house, which is something we have been saying we would do for years. The kids enjoyed it, but after our big day of hiking and playing, we were all asleep by 9:30.
Friday, June 1st, 2012. On Tuesday Amy and the boys visited my grandmother and joined her for lunch at the Claudville Cafe. On Wednesday, Amy returned to Claudville so that she could take Hama to her Heart and Vascular doctor in Mt Airy. Her EKG was abnormal and she was experiencing shortness of breath, so they wanted to send her to Forsyth Hospital in Winston-Salem. I worked from home so that I could watch the boys as Amy and my aunt Gink drove Hama to the hospital. On Thursday, Hama had a heart catheterization which exposed scar tissue partially blocking a pre-existing stint. This was repaired and during our visit last night, Hama seemed to be doing great.
