Monday, July 30th, 2012. Amy and I
had a great weekend at Floyd Fest again this year. We also had a great
visit from our niece Nicole that included a trip to Wet-n-Wild, a day at Deana's
house, lots of golf on our backyard par 3 and more. And we watched a great
Winston-Salem Dash game that included an exciting 11 run inning, including a
grand slam. Let's see, what else... Jackson spent the night with his
friend Hunter in Stuart and had a great time.
Friday, July 20th, 2012. Today's photos were taken by Amy this summer. I found them on Jackson's camera. I love the photo of Ben and our little friend Madelyn. The kids are spending today at Wet-N-Wild in Greensboro. Yesterday they went to the movies, played video games and golf.
Thursday, July 19th, 2012. Two new
hobbies this summer. 1. Golf 2. Rock Climbing. Since the kids
have been hitting golf balls in the yard so much, we turned our backyard
baseball field into a short par 3 hole for them to practice on. And
earlier this week, they went climbing for the second time in as many weeks, this
time in Midlothian, Virginia.
Wednesday, July 18th, 2012. While the family has been
out of town, I have been taking advantage of our recent rains and paddled on
Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday. Two of the trips was to Kibler Valley and
the third was to Wilson Creek. Creeking in July is a rare treat and one
that I enjoyed to the fullest.
Tuesday, July 17th, 2012. On July 7th, we visited Bland, VA for the 3rd Annual Muncy Cousins Reunion. Alan and Nicole spent the weekend with us and we had a great time that included climbing walls, swimming and basketball. This past weekend, Amy and the boys traveled to Colonial Heights where they played golf, swam and visited another climbing wall.
Thursday, July 5th, 2012. The boys and I ran out to Hardy's Custom Golf for a quick round of miniature golf on a nice evening. Ben actually wanted to play golf, but we didn't have time because I needed to mow the lawn before we left. We had a good time, although Ben usually leaves the course mad. He scored two hole in ones and only lost to Jackson by 1 stroke, but was furious. He said "maybe I just don't like to lose!"
Deana took today's photo at the river on July 4th.
Wednesday, July 4th, 2012. For the second year in a row, we spent our Independence Day in Kibler
Valley. Amy, the boys and I went up early to tube, pick raspberries and
blackberries, swim and chill. Once everyone else arrived, we made some
group photos, ate a great dinner, went back to the river for more swimming
(Caleb, Jackson and I drove upstream to run the top section and to swing off a
few rope swings), then the evening was capped off by a great fireworks show,
courtesy of Deana and Martin. We were all very, very tired when we got
home. (more photos here plus photos
from other Indepence Day celebrations)
Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012. We are very sad today to learn that Andy Griffith has passed away. Andy has meant a great deal to our little town and will be missed very much.
We slipped up the road to Kibler Valley yesterday evening to beat the heat with some time in the water. Our neighbors Mark and Joe joined us for a fun evening of tubing and raspberry picking.
