Thursday, August 23rd, 2012. Our days have recently been really full with a lot of planning for the Cub Scout year, Ben's baseball season starting, adjusting to school and dealing with issues Zorro has been having. He is now fourteen and a half years old and experiencing more and more issues with his joints and bones. I was fearing the worst earlier this week when we took him to the vet, but an x-ray showed a pinched nerve in his neck, so he is on pain medication, plus anti-inflamatory meds for his arthritis. So we are now hoping for the best.
Tuesday, August 14th, 2012. Ben had good days at
school on Friday and today and things continue to go well for Jackson.
Last night I made good on a long overdo promise to Ben to take him to the
movies, just he and I. We watched Men In Black 3 at the Earle on Main
Street and had the entire theater to ourselves. It was a really nice
evening with my wingman. Before we left, I shot basketball with Jackson
for about an hour.
Over the weekend, we had our 2nd Neighborhood Olympics. It was another success and a lot of fun. There was the lawnmower race, basketball, badminton, foot races, cornhole, a toddler race, a cookout and more. A lot of nice families live in our neighborhood and it is nice that we can get together every once in awhile. A TON more photos here, plus more of a description from the day.
Friday, August 10th, 2012. Ben's 2nd day went much
better and Jackson's week continues to go well. This weekend we have the
2nd annual Neighborhood Olympics. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and
we'll have another successful event. Today's photos are from Day 2 of our
Thursday, August 9th, 2012. Mixed reviews from the first day of school. Jackson had a great day, Ben shed some tears once he got home. Considering how he felt about day one, I was impressed with his attitude about giving it another try today. Hopefully things went better. Today's photos are from a visit to Fort Macon last week. One shows Ben now and in Aug 2010.
Wednesday, August 8th, 2012. First day of school. Ben moves from the elementary school to the intermediate school as he enters 3rd grade and Jackson starts his second year at the middle school, entering 7th grade.
Tuesday, August 7, 2012. Tons more photos from last week's trip to Atlantic Beach here. Our friend Grayson was kind enough to let us stay at her place next to Oceana Pier and it was probably our best trip yet. Just lots of fun, a great way to wrap up summer break.
