Monday, April 30th, 2012. Ben and I had another great camping trip at Camp Raven Knob last weekend. And this time, Amy and Jackson joined us on Saturday for a hike to the top of the mountain and the second night of our camp-out. We had grape-vine swinging, fishing (Ben caught a HUGE blue gill), swimming, soap carving, tye-die shirts, whittling, grilling and rain. Lots of rain Sunday morning. More photos here.
Tuesday, April 24th, 2012. A classic moment happened before last night's game. Jackson and I arrived in Westfield at 6:00 for a 6:30 game against the Orioles and discovered that Jackson had stepped into the van without grabbing his cleats. He was wearing socks with no shoes at all. Amy came to the rescue before the game started, but he had to take infield on 1st base without shoes. Our very own Shoeless Joe Jackson.
April 20th, 2012. We had two baseball games this week. Both were
losses, but one hurt more than the other. The kids seemed to rebound
nicely though and are still improving and staying positive. I posted more
of my sister Deana's photos
On Tuesday, while I was in Raleigh for business, Amy and Ben went with his 2nd grade class to the NC Zoo. They both took lots of great photos that I posted here.
Monday, April 16th, 2012. Since the last post, we have had a fun and full week. We had our old friend Brett and his little sister Sammi Grace over twice last week. As you can tell from today's photo, our boys were very happy about that. I'll post the baseball updates on Jackson's baseball page. Amy had an evening out with friends, we played lots of ball in the yard, had some nice cookouts at the house. We are already getting lettuce out of the garden and I am enjoying that. Tonight we have Cub Scouts and a baseball game against the Franklin Cubs.
April 10th, 2012. Jackson made his pitching debut last night for the RCC

We had a nice Easter, starting early at our house, followed by church and lunch/egg hunt at Deana's house. More photos here.
Wednesday, April 4th, 2012. I took the day off from work yesterday and we
celebrated Amy's birthday together as a family, first by sleeping late, then by
taking a walk to Main Street for lunch at Barney's. Later in the afternoon
the boys and I made a birthday cake, just in time for Amy to blow out the
candles before Ben left to spend the night with his Aunt Deana and Jackson with
Both boys participated in the Carroll County AAU tournament over the weekend and their teams both went 1-2. Jackson's team played really well considering the fact that they had not practiced in almost a month. And Ben's team notched their first victory, beating the 3rd grade West Wilkes Whirlies team. Ben scored 4 points in the Surry Stars' last game.
Jackson's White Sox team played their first game on Monday, losing 0-11. It was the first baseball game ever for three of the players on a team that fields no returning Major league players from last spring. Only two of the players have been on a team together before. All things considered, I thought the team performed pretty good. Jackson got on base during both of his at-bats. He was walked in the 2nd inning, then stole both 2nd and 3rd. He was hit by a pitch in the 4th, which loaded the bases, but unfortunately all three base runners were left stranded.
