Tuesday, April 26th, 2011. Many more photos here from our wonderful Easter. Ben woke at 7AM, woke us, then his brother. This was our first Easter at the new house and Ben was very pleased to find that the Easter Bunny hid eggs in the yard just like at the old house. Jackson got a new smoking hot baseball bat, Ben got a game for his DS and they both found Easter eggs hidden all over the yard. Mo joined us for church at FPCMA and rode with us to Deana's house for her giant Easter celebration. Deana had Cupcake Wars, plants for the kids to pot, kites, lunch and the traditional Easter Egg competition. The boys came in 2nd and 3rd in the total egg count, Ben won Tron in an egg toss competition and found a Deluxe Egg that had a note inside from his Uncle Martin, which resulted in him winning a minted 1926 silver dollar, plus other cash prizes. Quite the hall for Easter. Jackson and Caleb decided to be the first two to go swimming in the pond this year, which was made possible by the beautiful 85 degree weather. It was a really, really fun day.
Friday, April 15th, 2011. I spent part of the week in Raleigh and Charlotte, bookending that trip with baseball practice and our 2nd pre-season game. Ben had a great night going 2 for 2 at the plate, hitting a triple, a double and scoring our only run. The entire team played well actually, improving in all areas from our first game. We lost, but are only a few hits from getting our first win. (more photos here)
Friday, April 8th, 2011. Working backwards, we had our 1st
pre-season baseball game last night. The weather was perfect and the kids
all played well. Ben made a nice play at 1st in the 3rd inning,
beating the runner back to the bag. He also made really good decisions
while playing pitcher. Our other 1st baseman Dylan made some great plays,
as did many of the players. Ben was thrown out at 1st on both his hits,
which disappointed him greatly, but overall, it was a fun night and I think the
kids enjoyed the game. Amy and Jackson helped out in the dug out and
during some of the breaks, Amy snapped a few photos. You can see those on Ben's
Jackson attended his 3rd one-on-one session yesterday with Coach Spainhour at the high school. That went well and Jackson is working hard on improving some of his fundamentals and form. On Tuesday we watched both Caleb and Izzy play soccer here in town, which meant that we also got to see many of our friends play as well. It was a lot of fun, but super cold. We left during Caleb's game to take Izzy out to dinner for her birthday.
On Sunday, we celebrated Amy's birthday. After church we visited Hama, took a walk to the cabin and played baseball in the field across from her house. That evening the boys baked her a cake all by themselves.
And on Friday and Saturday, we were at The Great Wolf Lodge with family, thanks to Deana and had just a wonderful, fun, exhausting time. Both boys thought that Magiquest was the most fun part of that trip. And that is about as far back as I can remember, it has been a busy, busy week with sports, school, work and now yardwork.
